We don’t have to wait for years for the federal government to decide who gets what money and how it will be spent – each state is already getting millions in Title 1 funding ($15 billion/year nationally), funding that isn’t showing any positive gains. Those funds are being squandered every year on programs that do nothing to help the underserved families in our communities. Just look at the data.
We are already getting enough funding to solve the problem – 8% of $15 billion is about $1.2 billion dollars which would fund the entire program for Title 1 families in 50 states.
Just this simple model, that doesn’t require any new funding, will create a hi-tech workforce that is more than enough and more than qualified to help the US maintain its leadership position in the world.
Each Title 1 family is funded from the existing state ESSER and Title 1 funds to enroll in HeroicU.
An estimated 30% of the Title 1 students will become tech workers = 15,000 tech workers for each of the 50 Heroic Tech Hubs. An estimated 10% of parents of Title 1 students will start to upskill and enter the tech workforce over the next couple of years = 5,000 new tech workers.
This “tide” of positive energy and activity in the state will lift all students and families, rather than the negative energy currently dragging down the economy. This model creates talent, keeps talent and attracts talent to the state.
50 Heroic Tech Hubs x 15,000 students = 750,000 tech workers in 10 years. 50 Heroic Tech Hubs x 5,000 parents = 250,000 tech workers over the next couple of years. If your state builds this tech workforce, the businesses will come.
