Our country needs to be a leading innovator if we’re going to maintain our leadership position. This starts and can be led by the chips industry. The only piece of that puzzle that is stopping that from happening is creating a large enough workforce that is motivated to learn and innovate and become a tech worker that leads the Tech Hub in their community.
It takes care of the long-term workforce shortages (starting with K-6 kids), as it helps with the immediate workforce needs (the parents of those kids). When a UPS driver is getting $170k per year (report), then the tech industry really needs to up its game to attract, engage and inspire the next generation to take on those innovative tech jobs that drive the economy. The UPS driver is important, but we also need those that will drive the innovation in our communities.
The Heroic Tech Hub program works with the government and private sector (innovation anchors like semiconductor companies) to create the workforce ecosystem that not only takes care of the tech industries, but also all the other industries that support and work alongside it. Industry, government and our country are desperately in need of this solution – we have it and are in the process of implementing it.
The extra workforce is sitting right under our noses – 40% of our K-12 student population are Title 1 students. Those students score 10-20% lower on state reading and math test scores. This puts many of them on a track in elementary school to become a non-contributor to their community.
With HeroicU, we guarantee to flip those test scores which create a domino effect for the economic and social future for that child and family. We can deliver the 10 year solution to the workforce problem, while also delivering an immediate addition to the workforce with the parent/s of the Title 1 student. For example, if we rolled this out in Ohio to their 800,000 Title 1 students, and we just got 10% of those students excited about a tech career, we’d have an additional 80,000 tech workers in 10 years AND an immediate 80,000 parents who are joining the tech industry today!
